Are You Married? January 7, 2012

Filed under: Uncategorized — Brittany @ 10:07 am

I’m a health care professional, and have frequent encounters with the public. This past week apparently is marriage inquiry week.  Approximately 90% of people that I have encounter this week have felt it necessary to as randomly “So… Are you married?”.  I’m not really sure what married looks like, but would be glad for someone to fill me in.  Asking someone that went through a tragic divorce (more on that later) if they are married is like asking the infertile woman if she has children or if she is pregnant.  I’m not really sure what strikes people to do such, but it’s painful.  After telling one person that inquired as to my marital status that I was divorced, he promptly responded with “What kind of idiot would leave you?”  That made me laugh and to which I responded,  “You should meet him.”  All of these people asking have been old enough to be my grandparents, so it’s not as if they are looking to take me out.  Maybe, one of them will have really hot grandchildren!

Floods of Blessings! January 5, 2012

Today my boyfriend, Ryan, and I went for lunch, where we decided to opt for some extra vitamin D and enjoy the 56 degree weather and sit outside.  Definitely my idea.  While eating lunch we received a phone call informing us that God had stepped in and performed a God sized miracle as only He can.  We received an answer to a prayer much bigger that we could have ever imagined.  I spend the afternoon in a combination of tears and awe as the flood gates of blessings continued to pour over us.

Good Kiss…Great Year! January 3, 2012

So I became a strong believe in the power of one’s first kiss of the year to determine the fate of the year itself.  Try explaining this rationale to my amazing boyfriend as he went to apply a casual kiss on my lips January 1 and I dodged.  Yes… dodged the kiss, you know kinda like what kids do at recess in the third grade or what I did to a high school friend as he attempted to apply a romantic kiss on my lips in my grandparents garage.  With that being said I marked off January 1 as complete and began to count what I thought very well could accumulate into the 100’s of days with ’12 virgin lips.  The next day after work as I continued to prepare for what would probably be a long winter at the expense of mutual long hours and stress, the love of my life laid a kiss on me that made the fireworks at Disney World look like sparklers.  Ahhhh……  I’m pretty certain that my boyfriend is the best kisser in the entire universe, much less this marks the beginning of what has been predetermined by his lips as an incredible year.

Snakes January 1, 2012

It’s the previous mistakes and indiscretions of others that often rear their ugly heads inflicting panic and fear in our relationships.  The best thing to do is stomp them!  There is a big difference between a green garden snake and a rattle snake.  Just because the rattle snake killed your chickens previously does not mean that the garden snake will do the same even if found in the midst of the chicken house.  Healthy relationships encourage respect and trust, while stomping the assumptions of the past!
